Pain-Free Beauty with Nitrous Oxide, “Laughing Gas!”
Nitrous Oxide is also referred to as “laughing gas” and we have a system with the brand name Pro-Nox. The Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide Delivery System allows you to safely control pain during any cosmetic or medical procedure at our office. Learn more at the Pro-Nox website.
What is Pro-Nox?
Pro-Nox, also known as “laughing gas”, is a blend of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen. It is a safe and effective analgesic (pain reliever) and anxiolytic (anxiety reducer) that can be administered during procedures in our office.
What are the benefits to using it with a procedure?
Using Pro-Nox during a procedure offers several benefits. Firstly, it helps reduce anxiety and stress, promoting a more comfortable and relaxed experience. This can be particularly beneficial for anyone who may feel nervous or apprehensive about the treatment. Additionally, nitrous oxide provides pain relief, making the procedure more comfortable. Pro-Nox is inhaled through a specially designed tube that you hold and can control how much of the nitrous oxide is administered. You are in full control!
Are there side effects, is it safe?
Pro-Nox is safe for use during cosmetic and medical treatments. It has a rapid onset of action and wears off quickly once the inhalation is discontinued. Some temporary side effects may include mild dizziness, nausea, or lightheadedness, but these are rare and subside completely after the treatment.
Is there anyone who should not consider this?
Pro-Nox is not recommended for pregnant women or individuals with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Additionally, anyone who has had cataracts surgery within 3 months should avoid Pro-Nox.
How long do the effects last, can I drive home?
Nitrous oxide usually takes a few minutes to take effect and lasts as long as the gas is still flowing. Once the gas flow is stopped, it takes only about 5 minutes to fully recover to feeling completely normal. You can walk out after the procedure and drive home safely!
We hope this information gives you a better understanding of nitrous oxide and its benefits if you would like to use it for your treatment!
